Happy New Year!!
With a new year, come many changes. The Lake Villa Historical Society Board of Directors was in agreement after the 9th Annual Lake Villa Civil War Days, that we discontinue this event/fundraiser for several reasons. It has become more and more expensive every year to host the Lake Villa Civil War Days. It is difficult to be successful when we are dependent on the weather!! Expenses must be paid rain or shine.
We are also aware that this type of event does not fit into our Mission statement ". . . .serves its community by collecting and preserving documents and artifacts that reflect the richness of Lake Villa's history . . ."
On November 1, 2011, the newly dissolved Lake Villa Rescue Squad donated their original building at 223 Lake Avenue to the LVHS. While this project is very exciting for us, it will require much time for planning and fund raising to renovate the building for our use.
We invite you all to become members of the Lake Villa Historical Society, to add input on how we can best serve Lake Villa children/families and or/or join in the creation of a museum that we as a community can be proud of.
We welcome Deb Hudson and Joyce Dever to the LVHS Board of Directors. Betty Burns will also remain on the board. Thanks to Marsha Cairo as she steps down.
